About A Cherokee Nation VA/WV/OH/MO/KS: Mills/Vance/Lewis/Hess/Lawson/McCool/Goff
Please sign in to see more. This tree includes my family histories from Cyrus Vance of Shenandoah Virginia and his wives, my line from Hannah Runion, the Mills, Lewis, Zickefoose & Hess lines from West Virginia, my husband's lines; Olson from Norway to Iowa and Leduc/LaDuke from France & Canada, New York, Ohio, Iowa and Kansas, Steidley from Norway into Keokuk, Lee Co Iowa and changed to Stadley by his grandmother in 1920's. The changing of surname spellings is something everyone doing genealogical research should remember! Many census takers and civil servants who filled out forms were barely literate, sometimes careless, many times sloppy. Also, many of our ancestors could not read or write and depended on phonic sound to make their names known. Many used marks or X's to indicate signatures. Transcribers were notorious for misspellings. I am constantly checking, adding, deleting and correcting data, so please bear with me! I have a lot of information to change as time permits. Use only as a guide.
Information on living persons is hidden for privacy, to the general public. I cannot guarantee each bit of information is without fault. There are certainly errors. Please feel free to contact me with any errors you may find. Please enjoy your trip through our family histories. Perhaps our lines cross! Glenda Vance Stadley
